Web Application Testing Steps
XBO's web application testing services cover Functionality testing, Usability testing, Interface testing, Compatibility testing, Performance testing, and Security testing.
2) Usability Testing: this covers navigation issues, content checking, and aspects of user 'help' functions.
- Navigation review:
- Validate different controls such as buttons, boxes or how user accesses links on the pages to surf different pages.
- Error prevention: Instructions should be clearly provided. Check if the provided instructions satisfy their purpose.
- Main menu should be provided on each page with consistent navigation forwards and backwards.
- Content checking:
- Content should be logical and easy to understand.
- check for spelling errors. Use of dark colors annoys users and should not be used in application color schema/theme.
- Ensure standards that were used for web page and content building were followed.
- All the anchor text links should be working properly.
- Images should be placed properly with proper and consistent sizes.
- User help functions:
- Sitemap should be present with all links and with proper tree view of navigation. Check for all links on the sitemap.
- Test 'Search in the site' option will help users to find content pages they are looking for easily and quickly.
- Check if all the interactions between these servers are executed properly and that errors are handled properly.
- Check what happens if user interrupts any transaction in-between.
- Check what happens if connection to web server is reset in-between.
